Hiking in Ramsau am Dachstein
On the Ramsau plateau, you will find level and comfortable paths for easy walks and family hikes.
In the region of the mountain pastures between 1100m and 1400m, traditional huts with catering and exceptional panoramic views await. From there, more challenging tours and trails into higher rocky terrains begin.
Mountain Climbing and Via Ferrata
The Dachstein glacier area offers spectacular fixed iron rope trails and free climbing routes. The vertical south walls attract experienced climbers.
The Ramsau mountain guide agency offers guided tours for all levels.
Dachstein Glacier
Sky Walk – Ice-Palace – Suspension Bridge – "Stairways to Nothingness"
The "Sky-Walk" platform at 2700m, with its 360° panoramic view and glass floor, is one of the most extraordinary viewing platforms in the Alps.
Only 100m from the top station of the Dachstein-Seilbahn, you can explore the glacier’s interior ice-palace, with its fantastic ice sculptures. A new suspension bridge leads to a secure "stairways to nothingness" where you can gaze down hundreds of meters or view distant landscapes.
Nature Trails for Our Younger Guests
There’s a lot to explore for children of all ages. Ramsau am Dachstein offers Austria's first "Nature and Theme Trail for Kids". On eight different trails, children can follow the tracks of "Kali – the Ramsaurier", our beloved mascot.
Two via ferratas for kids are available at the Sattelberg, starting at the old mill and leading to the summit, with a "Flying Fox" for the descent.
For those who prefer a less demanding route, there is the "fairytale trail" or the nature theme trail with 115 play stations for kids, parents, and grandparents.
Rittisberg – The Adventure Mountain
The leisure park "Ramsau Beach" at the base of Rittisberg is the perfect playground for children, offering a splash area, giant sandpit, jumping tower, trampoline, beach volleyball, and more.
The Rittisberg Coaster, stretching 1300m, guarantees fun for everyone. Don’t miss the high-rope "Forest Park" with its thrilling flying fox.
